In Paul Patterson’s own words: SHEEPHERDER, the Saga of a Slow Yet Steadfast Lover, is an early day western romance novel. Our hero, one Basil Horace Slocum, a pure yet simple sheepherder, triumphs over evil, against all odds and obstacles, not to say insolence and arrogance, and wins the rancher’s lovely niece’s hand in marriage. Needless to say, never in the annals of Wild West fact, fiction, fancy or folklore has one read of a sheepherder having triumphed over anything except his sheep – and this only with guidance and superior judgment of his lead goat Judas.
Paul wrote this novel years ago and tucked it into a desk drawer. He said he enjoyed writing it more than any he’s ever done. A list of his works appears on the back cover.
